On the other hand, we can see the blessings beyond when we look up. I'm so excited for this year's theme! It just seems like the right theme for this year- ASK!

Last year we would recite the YW theme AND the 2016 theme scripture (2 Nephi 31:20 Press Forward..)  during our opening exercises.We plan to do that again this year. I made these prints to hang at the front of our classroom to help us memorize the 2017 theme.

Hip Hip Hooray! It's Your Birthday!

My friend told me about a birthday gift idea her ward used for birthdays in Young Women. 

I found these little printouts on Little LDS Ideas. 

I wanted to print 4 to a page, though and get the most bang for my buck. 

So I decided to design my own!

Download the 8.5x11 PDF print here. It has 4 'cards' to a page.

I recommend printing this on  glossy cardstock. You need a paper thick enough to support the weight of the lip balm. I used my Fiskars paper slicer to cut my cards out. I also suggest using a 1.5 inch circle hole punch to make the hole for the lip balm. I bought mine from Hobby Lobby for only $4.99. You can also just cut a hole out with scissors. 

To attach the lip balm to the card,  open up the lip balm, put the paper in between the lid and balm (it will fit right through the hole you punched out), and then screw the lid shut. Easy peasy. 

Light the World

This Christmas season, my family and I are going to try a little harder to remember our Savior by serving others and in doing so "Light the World".  I've made this little print that is the perfect size  for a business card magnet to stick on the fridge. That is the one place I know every member of the family consistently looks- multiple times a day in fact :)

You can also just glue it to the top of any old business card magnet you already have on your fridge. I'm soooo excited that next year we will be studying President Gordon B. Hinckley. He was the Prophet when I was a teenager, college student, and when I became a momma. I grew up with him. There is a special place in my heart for him. This has always been one of my favorite quotes!

One of my favorite scriptures is Alma 37:37.

Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea, when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day.

This quote just reminded me of  how powerful prayer is and how we really should pray about any problem we have- small or large.

This is such a wonderful quote- how many times do we hold back kind words?  Whether out of jealousy, or bitterness or maybe we think 'so and so' already knows how great she is at this or that. There are so many reasons. One thing I'm trying to teach my kids is that saying something kind about somebody else or to somebody else doesn't take away anything from us. 

So today, share kindness. Build each other up. Say those kind thoughts. You really don't know what is going on in someone else's life and you're kind words just might change that person's entire day.

Family Arrangements

Family arrangements will be more wonderful than you can imagine

I LOVE this month's first presidency message. Every month, our church publishes a magazine called the Ensign. In it, our Prophet and other members of the First Presidency, write a message. I aboslutley loved this message by President Eyring, who is the First Counselor in the First Presidency.  

He said, "A prophet of God once offered me counsel that gives me peace. I was worried that the choices of others might make it impossible for our family to be together forever. He said, “You are worrying about the wrong problem. You just live worthy of the celestial kingdom, and the family arrangements will be more wonderful than you can imagine.”

To all of those whose personal experience or whose marriage and children—or absence thereof—cast a shadow over their hopes, I offer my witness: Heavenly Father knows and loves you as His spirit child. While you were with Him and His Beloved Son before this life, They placed in your heart the hope you have of eternal life. With the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ working and with the Holy Spirit guiding, you can feel now and will feel in the world to come the family love your Father and His Beloved Son want so much for you to receive.

I testify that as you live worthy of the celestial kingdom, the prophetic promise that “family arrangements will be more wonderful than you can imagine” will be yours."
